Robin Left For UK

August 15, 2007

s2020069.jpgRobin, widely known among us as Potla has started for United Kingdom this morning (August 15). His Emirates flight was at BDT 1000HRS. He will be passing a transit period of 6 hours at Dubai & is expected to reach London’s Heathrow International Airport at BDT 0400HRS (GMT 2200HRS). Nayeem & I went his home at Priyo Prangon Apartments at Poribagh at 7:30AM to say goodbye. Robin has become the second of our friends to leave Bangladesh for higher education. Abid was first to leave to Australia.

Robin has got admitted in London Metropolitan University in Electronics & Communication University(ECE). He was with me at North South University ETE. Most hopefully Robin will take less than four years from now for completing the graduation.

Finally my fifth semester at North South University has got waved good bye. Comparing to others, this semester has been a little tight, we don’t know why. My courses this semester, ETE341, ETE132, ETE283 & MAT240, fortunately or unfortunately I have got all of these courses at ST schedules, my luck!

In last classes, my fellow classmates (myself included unfortunately) have been found to cheer up a bit and laughing all along the “bidaye muhurto” instead of grabbing each other with tears. Such a thing to regret! I believe we should have dropped some tears at least as a showdown (I laughed more than others).

Bunch of photos have been taken on this last day and and for my fellow classmates, I have uploaded them here, in this site. You people can click here to get those pics at once.

The book which is taking the total attention of mine right now is “The Godfather” written by Mario Puzo. I can’t remember myself reading a book with all along focus of mine like I am doing to “The Godfather” now. This is a real awesome book where Mario Puzo has put down all of his efforts to make it a real attraction to readers fond of thrillers. I have already done almost thesis on three parts of the movie “The Godfather” which has been made by Francis Ford Coppola & Mario Puzo. Now when I came to read the book, it feels me very familiar about the characters as I am not facing too much trouble during visualizing all of incidents in the book. The novel is simply far more precise than the movie as many incidents has been detailed in the novel where the movie shows just the incident. If you read the novel then you can justify that Coppola as well as Puzo should be rated top for their extraordinary casting skill. Marlon Brando, Al Pacino, James Caan, Robert Duvall, all of these actors have been very well synthesized and that’s why “The Godfather I,II,III” have been found the most entertaining and  as the best choice of many fans since 1974. Though the story tells about pre-war & post-war (World War II) mafia arena according to that time’s style, you will find many of characters of our present society and will realize that the world has not gone through a mass change. The underworld is as it was before.

Mario Puzo has been deeply inspired by the  Sicillian mafia arena especially Puzo got his instrumental inspiration for the novel “The Godfather” from the real life crime family of Vito Genovese, who was the most powerful underworld don among New Work crime families to his arrest in 1969, Puzo too published this novel in 1969. Many of elements of this book has been simulated to the testimony of Joe Valachi, who was a ‘button’ (or, member/soldier) of the Genovese crime family of New York in 1965. A character has also made in the novel according to Joe Valachi’s testification infront of the Senate. That character was Frank Pentangeli who was presented to the court by FBI to testify against Michael Corleone. In real life story, the entire Genovese family was hooked down after the testification of Valachi, but the novel shows Frank Pentangeli refused to testify against Michael Corelone and later committed suicide.Vito Genovese

I just can make a comment for people who haven’t read “The Godfather” & haven’t watched the movie, that is, “you never know what you’ve missed”.
